PKK debuted new “event signage”, light weight, portable signs to display at upcoming events, courtesy of David Bywater and Bankers Advertising.  Get one for your next event from PKK.  PPx3 Margaret Reese provided a snap of the first day of school at the Rotary library at the Neighborhood Center’s westside location. LaDonna Wicklund showed a picture of “Cevelle”, an alumna of the “I Can Read” program and described how the program contributed to her success in life.  Also, the “Literary Champions” party will be 9/25 at Kecia B’s home—tickets at $25 each still available. Ladonna also needs volunteer drivers to transport this year’s dictionaries to area schools.  Contact her for information on both. John Kenyon took a moment to praise RYLA/WAS, describing the role each played in his own son’s development.  Support for next year needed now--$600 (RYLA) and $900 (WAS) sponsorships.  Program goal, $30k.

 

Mmmm-Delicious!  Our own Anna Moyers-Stone along with sidekicks Charlie Nusser and Christopher Hunter (of the Downtown District) showcased their podcast, the “Downtown Dish” (D/T Dish). The podcast is produced by the Downtown District and the Corridor Business Journal and is a modern reincarnation of Daddy Bill’s defunct KXIC radio prog of the same name.

 

The trio reminisced about encounters from the podcast’s 26 previous episodes, relating anecdotes and fond memories of memorable conversations with downtown’s movers and shakers from UofI President Barbara Wilson to a range of business owners and colorful personalities.  The show (“pod”?) also showcases (or “showpods”, if you prefer?) upcoming events planned for downtown and actively debunks (or may occasionally even start?) juicy rumors.   

 

Unlike the rigid timetables of radio, you can catch the crew anytime on your favorite streaming platform (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon).  Don’t have a streaming relationship?  No problem.  You can find the link on the homepage of the Downtown District or the CBJ.  As a last resort, you can simply Google it by name.
